At Tuesday's regular meeting, the Clearfield County Commissioners voted in favor of supporting the Pennsylvania Foreign Trade Zone Corp. in a letter to the Cambria County Economic Development Authority. Commissioner John A. Sobel, chair, announced that the commissioners had recently learned about a Foreign Trade Zone developing among counties to the south and east of Clearfield.

The officer takes the dog - friendly, well-fed with a collar but no tags - and places him in a cell until a Humane Society worker can arrive.

Eighty-eight former students who were sexually molested by a Franciscan friar who worked as an athletic trainer at a Catholic high school have settled their legal claims for $8 million, according to two attorneys who represent more than half the victims. Altoona attorney Richard Serbin represents 13 ex-students from the former Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, and Boston attorney Mitchell Garabedian represents 33. The students said they were abused by Brother Stephen Baker, who worked at the school, 60 miles east of Pittsburgh, from 1992 to 2001.

Sentencing has been delayed for a man convicted in the stabbing death of his estranged girlfriend at a western Pennsylvania car wash a year ago. The Tribune-Democrat reports that a Cambria County court agreed to a defense request to put off sentencing for 22-year-old Demetrius Gibson of Johnstown to allow resolution of drug charges.
